POSITION: Test Engineer - R&D

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

LOCATION: San Jose, CA

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

SUMMARY

Based in San Jose, CA, we are a fast-growing optical and RF components company that develops custom MMICs and multichip modules (MCM) targeting the medium and long-haul optical transmission market as well as high-performance test and measurement and broadband communications markets. We are currently seeking a Test Engineer.

As a Test Engineer of the R&D group, the individual is expected to be responsible of test activities related to the development of new products from design stage until release to volume manufacturing. This includes different kind of measurement in the frequency and time domain evnironment, automated test software development and documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Self starter, motivated, independent, hardworking, and willing to learn and develop new skills.  Willing to read manuals, books, datasheets, etc. and collaborate with coworkers to come up with solutiosn in a timely manner
• Frequency domain measurement through VNA (S-Parameter and TDR) and Spectrum Analyzer (linearity) on EVB as well probe station
• Time domain measurement through pattern Generator, DCA, BER on EVB as well as probe station
• Create all the documentation including data gathering, analysis and presnetation of reports
• Implementation of automated software
• Lab management and maintenance (equipments/cables/connectors/adapters)

MARGINAL DUTIES

Support Product Quality and RMA test verification and data gathering. Provide technical support to solve technical issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3+ years test engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of different bench equipment such as high speed Oscilloscope, Pattern & Signal Generator, Vector Network Analyer, Spectrum Analyzer, and Probe Station
• Knowlege of C/C++, VB and Unix
• Ability to communicate with different groups, internal and external to the company.
